Jesus’ answer to moral evil is to call to conversion and to promise he will be our strength when we are persecuted. Put another way, he will raise us up after our passion. This even applies to the trials of life: sickness and infirmity. He enables us to rise above all afflictions by his grace.
God’s Providence is a great creative plan that extends through all time. God has revealed the plan of Providence in Scripture. If we truly believe what we find there, the vision is awesome. The Christian ambition is the most grand that has ever been conceived. We are called to be so taken up into the very life of God as to become God-like. It is already our glory as human beings to share by our very natures in the divine dignity, because we are capable of wisdom and freedom. The compassionate Providence of God has gone much further. He has reached out to what is by its nature mortal and given it the opportunity to rise above itself into his own immortal life.
You have delivered me, O Lord, from my sins and even from many of the consequences of my sins. Raise me above all that can hold me back from you.
