The heart of Jesus wants to bring our attention to his great love for us. He allowed his heart to be pierced on the cross. He loves all of us, everywhere and in all ages. Jesus is concerned about ingratitude for this gift. This complaint is intended for us. We need to show gratitude for the love of God in Jesus so as to become and remain spiritually healthy. Though Jesus’ heart was pierced on Good Friday, the day that best fits what his heart symbolizes is Easter. We are a redeemed people because of Jesus’ love for us.
There is work to be done, of course. We need to cooperate in the repair our own spiritual lives and the world as well. Jesus came to heal the wounds of sin and division—the hostilities that keep us apart. Jesus bears in his body all the wounds which human beings inflict upon one another. He raises us above the wounds to the love of his heart. In union with himself, he raises us to his Father and the perfect charity of the Holy Spirit.
Restore me, Lord Jesus, and train me for your service to the world. Thank you for your kindness to me and to us.
