Sometimes we may become angry with and estranged from an entire group of people. These may be our families or groups to which we belong. Usually pride, envy and anger are all involved. Year after year there is a rankling within us because we believe we are not appreciated or respected. How many people go through life chained to their resentments against their own relatives or associates!
The ideal is to learn how to relate to others as Jesus relates to us. His way of relating is: tolerant of the weaknesses of others and very personal, because he was personally and deeply loved by his Father. To encounter Jesus is to encounter healing and liberation.
He asks us to imitate him because we are deeply loved by the Father and Jesus. Each of our names are written on his heart. Jesus might well ask us, “Are the names of your brothers and sisters written on your heart?”
Lord, I sometimes hear you say to me in my heart, “Why don’t you let go as I have let go of so much because of my love for you?” What can I answer except to pray for those who have wounded me?
