“Show us the Father and that will be enough for us” (Jn 14). Jesus attracted people because he revealed divine love. Our task is to reveal Jesus’ love. “Do I believe that I am loved? Do I believe that Jesus loves this person to whom I am ministering? Do I understand divine love for the human heart?” It is more important to be a center of Jesus’ warmth and love in a cold and uncaring world than to achieve any other ambition.
The world is full of people who are looking for the ultimate truth and the ultimate meaning of their lives. “I want to see God” is implicit in their search. We encounter a great spiritual hunger in the hearts of a great many people, even some unbelievers. Some of them go to far distant places to discover truth and fulfillment. There is no need for anyone to travel here or there in search for God. The journey can begin and continue within our own hearts. Jesus will then draw us into the community of those who know and love him.
Make me a faithful messenger of your truth, O Lord. Let me show in my life and care for others your face and the face of your Father.
