The foundation of Jesus’ relationship with his Father was the realization that he was a “be¬loved Son.” God was not for him remote and stern. He was “Abba”-my Father. The love of the Father for the heart of Jesus tells us about the Father. When Jesus said: “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father…” (Jn 14), he was telling us not only that he is like his Father but also that his Father loves the human heart—his and ours.
Jesus is always trying to penetrate the “false images” that people have about his Father. Jesus wants to share his own intimate knowledge of One who is creative, healing and fulfilling—and who himself “has a heart.”
The Father’s great plan is to create and renew, out of love. The Father’s love for the human heart of Jesus is a channel of divine love for every human heart including our own. In Jesus’ compassion we find the Father.
Lord, many times you have shown me how deeply your Father and you love me. I trust you and give myself to you without reserve. With your grace, I will “let go and let God” into my life this day.
