In the early morning Jesus makes his presence known. When he is near, you or I can say to him:
“All I have to do, Lord, is be quiet and let you come to me. You ask that I set aside everything else to pay attention to you. Nothing else is nearly so important as being with you. That after all is what I hope to do forever.
“Why do you love me so, Lord? I have not always done what pleases you but you keep on loving me. You said you had not come to judge, but to save. I believe your love for me is greater than all.
“You are peace for a heart that is often troubled. When I look at the day ahead of me and look at myself my heart is restless. You say to me: ‘Be still and know that I am God. Be still and know that I have a human heart like yours. This day I will be with you to remind you of my love for you, when you need me. Turn to me when you feel that need.’”
Lord Jesus, walk with me this day. From time to time, remind me that you are near. Call me back when I stray from you. Let me live and work in your peace, according to your promise.
