The foundation of gratitude is faith. Only those who believe can be grateful. Only those who believe can offer spontaneous praise to God through Jesus. At times faith may become very obscure, especially in times of suffering or boredom with self. However these are passing trials, purifying our hearts for a deeper healing and a greater capacity to thank God and praise him. The people Jesus healed during his earthly journey no doubt had dark moments before Jesus touched them.
The healing touch of Jesus first implants a belief that he is able and willing to restore us to wholeness. We become convinced that he will lead us out of darkness into light, from infirmity of spirit to spiritual soundness. Then we are ready to receive his power in our body, mind and spirit. On our part we need to be ready to believe at the beginning of our healing and to cooperate along the way.
I believe, Lord, in your willingness to heal me and in your power to do so. My faith is a channel through which you can reach into my spirit and my entire life. Increase my faith in you.
