The Spirit of God sings in me a new song of love and hope: “Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all you lands. Sing to the Lord, bless his name; announce his salvation, day after day. Tell his glory among the nations; among all peoples, his wondrous deeds” (Ps 96).
We sing because God is faithful, even when sometimes we are unfaithful: “Thus says the Lord [to his people]: I will allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak to her heart. She shall respond there as in the days of her youth, when she came up from the land of Egypt. On that day, says the Lord, she shall call me ‘My husband,’ and never again ‘My baal.’ I will espouse you to me forever; I will espouse you in right and in justice, in love and in mercy; I will espouse you in fidelity, and you shall know the Lord” (Hos 2). On that day we can sing to the Lord a new song.
I do believe in your love, Lord. My heart sings because you are singing in me. Who am I that you should come to me? Or rather should I not ask, “Who are you”? This is your doing; you draw me, for reasons which only you know. For reasons of love you draw me.
