Unknown promise

A seed needs to let go of its dormancy and self-containment. It needs to be open to the outside forces of its environment in order to be transformed into the fullness of its unknown promise. What are the securities of my present that I need to abandon to grow into the promise of all I am called to be? There is pain in the letting-go: my security; my control; my hurts of the past; my plan for the future. I want to know for sure that my letting go now will generate a freer, fuller, happier tomorrow.

For each of us, Jesus entered into this painful yet decisive moment that we each must face. In this hour and in this place he is with us as we embrace the unknown promise of new life.
