Psalm 104: “Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.”
God so radically believes in humanity that he has trusted us, his Church, to create our own history. He sends us the Spirit of Jesus who teaches us how to be fully human. When we live by that Spirit we can renew the face of the earth.
In this moment of human history in which nuclear war is again possible; where our physical environment is so threatened by contamination and where injustice, poverty, violence and war are more rampant than ever, Pentecost is a call and urgent reminder for us to live our vocation in the Spirit and renew the face of the earth. God’s love is still the answer and remedy.
