Missionaries of the Sacred

The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart are deeply committed to the protection of children and vulnerable adults, recognizing that this is both a matter of justice and respect for human dignity and also that there is an overwhelming need for a pastoral and compassionate response to the issues of abuse, especially in the United States. Abuse and neglect of minors are contrary to the teachings of the Church and our Members have a responsibility to protect minors. Part of our MSC mission of bringing the love of Jesus to everyone is ensuring both that we protect those whom we serve and reach out to those who have been victims of this terrible abuse. The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart was one of the first Religious Communities to meet all the standards for prevention and become accredited by Praesidium, Inc. Adherence to the MSC Policy for Maintaining Ethical Ministry with Minors as well as training in child protection is mandatory for all Members, employees and volunteers. In addition to regular training, we also make psychological and counseling services available to any person who alleges abuse by a Member of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. Not only are we committed to providing services to those who might allege abuse, we also respond to the great need for healing in today's society by reaching out to those who have been victims of all types of abuse through our retreat ministry (Life's Healing Journey).
